COP26 – Open Technology for Sustainability Day

Charlie Hull, Managing Consultant at OSC will be attending the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow as part of the Open Technology for Sustainability Day run by OpenUK, a not for profit body dedicated to promoting businesses, projects and people who use and develop open source software, open source hardware and open data. Charlie is one of OpenUK’s Open Source Ambassadors. OpenSource Connnections has sponsored OpenUK’s 2021 Individual Award, and Charlie will be presenting the award during the event.

The event will be keynoted by Lord Maude of Horsham who set up the UK’s Government Digital Service. Other speakers include Helen Crooks, Head of Data at OFGEM the UK’s energy regulator and Catherine Stihler, CEO of Creative Commons. The day will launch an open technology blueprint for the carbon negative datacentre developed by an OpenUK consortium and feature panels, talks and demonstrations of how open source software, open source hardware and open data can help support the aims of COP26 to reduce the impact of climate change.
