Dave Mackey is a Software Engineer and Search Relevance Consultant who enjoys working at the intersection of information retrieval, pragmatic software engineering, and delivering tangible business value.
Dave recently contributed to the OpenSearch Relevance Agent project, which brings together LLMs, agents, and the AG-UI protocol to provide chat-based intelligent refinements to OpenSearch engines, improving relevance more quickly and iteratively. He is also currently an active contributor to the Splainer and Quepid projects.
Dave is deeply interested in building information retrieval and knowledge management systems that make better use of the human expertise inside and around organizations, creating more relevant, personalized, and collaborative experiences.
When not consulting, Dave enjoys facilitating local community and co-leads Tech Talk Augusta, a monthly meetup. He also enjoys teaching, with an emphasis on making concepts and technologies understandable and interesting to wide audiences.
